The CCO will be a member of the positive leadership and administrative team of facility. Also participates in staffing, decision-making, policy determination, and clinical planning and clinical operations of the hospital. She/he has the responsibility for overseeing management of nursing practices. The CNO must have knowledge of current theoretical approaches to delivering quality nursing care; strategies for examining and applying relevant concepts; current leadership, management, and developmental performance improvement concepts; and the ability to participate in developing and implementing positive strategies to address opportunities for improving nursing care.
